Lesson Plan
Goal: Students will demonstrate their understanding of elapsed time by explaining, in writing, how to get an incorrect and a correct answer. They will also practice working problems pertaining to elapsed time.
This activity is meant to be completed by students individually or in pairs. Students will need approximately 2535 minutes to be able to work through this activity. There are three parts to be completed:
*Teachers using Google.docs must have a free Google account setup. Once the form has been created in Google.docs, the student responses can be downloaded in a spreadsheet for grading.

 YouTube Video (1:45) The video shows a contestant on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" answering a question concerning elapsed time. The contestant gets the answer incorrect.
 Questions requiring narrative responses (10  15 minutes)  Using a form created on Google.docs*, students will answer questions pertaining to how the lady in the video came up with the incorrect answer and how to actually work out the problem.
 Practice Problems (10  15 minutes)  Students will answer practice problems that provide a selfcheck when completed.
